Plant of the Month - April
For April plant of the month, we will look at herbs. We stock a wide selection of herbs in both 9cm and 1L pots.
Herbs are perhaps best loved for their taste and smell. The scented leaves of Rosemary and Thyme are particularly noteworthy, whilst the amazing smell of Tarragon might be why it is a staple of both French cuisine and your own recipes and creations.
Rosemary and Sage boast a Mediterranean background which means they tend to prefer a warmer and sunny environment. However, do not let this fool you, as both plants are still pretty tough. Most Rosemary varieties remain hardy across the UK whilst sage is pretty good in a drought.
Many herbs, such as Thyme and Sage cause minimal hassle and do not need much care when established. Some herbs, such as Rosemary, Sage and Thyme can be planted directly into the ground (as long as it is free draining) but will be equally happy in a pot or container. Other, more fussy herbs, like Tarragon, may be happier in a container that can be easily moved to avoid frost. Be careful when planting Mint next to other plants as it is likely to put pressure on its neighbours. As such, planting in single containers is recommended.
Don't miss some of our favourites:
